Uganda is Africa condensed; the best that the continent has to offer packed into this one incredible region. Home to one of Africa’s highest mountain ranges in Africa, the ‘Mountains of the Moon’ in the Ruwenzori National Park; Uganda is also the source of the mighty Nile. It is relatively small in relation to other African countries, and a good infrastructure and road network make travel to and within the country simple. Visitors can reach the major attractions comfortably within a day, making even the shortest stay a multifaceted experience.

Uganda boasts 6.8% of the world’s butterfly species, 10.25% of its bird species, 7.8% of its mammals and 53.9% of its mountain gorilla population. Uganda has the highest concentration of primates on earth, at least 11 different species, including chimpanzees and the very rare, endangered mountain gorilla. Head to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park (BINP) and Kibale Forest National Park to get up close to these ‘great apes’.

What you need to know

There is little fluctuation in temperature during the year and no real winter or summer. The hottest months are January and February. The South has 2 wet seasons: from mid- September to November and March to May.

For the adventurous why not tube down the Nile River. Take in the vast beauty of the Bwindi National Park and absorb the kind and wonderful people and their culture.

The power supply is EU / European standard voltage of 230/240 and power sockets are EU style (square pin type). It is important to note that if you want to use US appliances, you will need a voltage converter as well as a plug converter.

Insurance to cover for medical, personal property and other personal risks during your safari is essential. Sense of Africa requires that all clients arrange for personal insurance. Sense of Africa works closely with Amref for emergency medical evacuation but this is just for emergency medical evacuation and cost of treatment is not included.
